Blogging Awards

I’ve read a host of international blogs – particularly those based in the US – that will talk about “blogging awards”.

I’ve often thought it a tad disappointing that blogging here doesn’t seem to have the same prestige (or is it interest?) as it does overseas. I’ve been especially disappointed at my ability to see/vote in blogging awards. It’s possible that they’re out there, but I certainly haven’t noticed them.

Until now that is.

To be fair, I can’t tell if it’s a ‘true’ blogging award, in that the blog with the most votes wins a prize, because prizes can be won just by entering (though that could be to encourage entrants). The T&C aren’t really clear on that one. Note: I have just discovered that there was a “Voices of 2013” competition in which the winning blogs did “win” an award (and some of them got some nice prizes, too – holiday to New York anyone?) so it looks like we do have a true blogging award here!

Nonetheless, it’s the first attempt to create an Australian blogging award that I have seen, and for that I give them credit.

If you want to vote for your favourite blog (and possibly win the prize of $200) you need to visit Kidspot’s Voices of 2014 Nomination page and tell them in 25 words or less why you love blogs.

Do you know of any blogging awards? Who would you vote for?

  1. I entered the Australian Blogger of the year award last year ……………. and did not win, which was fair enough as I’d only been at it for a few months, but this year I’ve carbed up and I’m ready to lose once again………. only this time with less crying.
